Information and Bookings

Between Chania and Rethymnon, in the beautiful rolling foothills of the White Mountains and only a short distance from the northern Cretan sea, is the traditional village of Vamos, with a rich cultural heritage. It was in 1995 when a group of friends established Vamos S. A Company with the aim to promote the area and share their love of their region and their feelings for the tradition with a wider population. The project was to organise activities that would highlight the image of the forgotten Crete an image very different from the one perceived when visiting the busy tourist resorts. Therefore, Vamos Traditional Village Company decided to set up its premises in the most authentic part of the village, "the old neighbourhood" with stone roads, old ruins, secret corners, village churches, old traditional houses, close to and harmonically with nature and among the locals. So, the old ruins and buildings of 18th, 19th and early 20th century were renovated to charming traditional guesthouses. Historical buildings were revived into an art cafe and a local handicraft shop, and in the entrance of the old neighbourhood, the village tavern turned to the "centre" of the Certain Diet. Now, Vamos is widely known as a traditional destination, where someone can become immersed into the real authentic Crete, relax and, without any pressure, combine holiday entertainment with cultural pursuits. In short, if you would like to live in a stone and wood Greek village cottage, taste natural honey and virgin olive oil, walk on flagstone village paths and in the local countryside, smell the flowers in blooming gardens, say kalimera* to the locals whilst drinking coffee or tsikoudia* at the village cafenion and tavern, enjoy the sun and sea in nearby beaches, then you will be in the right place!
